Citi Romania’s new Bucharest headquarters in the Tiriac Towers office building received LEED for Interior Design and Construction (LEED ID+C) certification, in recognition of the implementation of sustainable practices and vision for a sustainable future. The Tiriac Tower building is also LEED Core & Shell certified, at Platinum level, with the ESG Strategic Advisory department of Colliers Romania coordinating the extensive certification process for both the new Citibank Romania headquarters and the Tiriac Tower office building.
Citi’s decision to obtain LEED ID+C certification for its new headquarters, which covers interior design and construction work, is in line with the bank’s globally agreed policy to achieve net zero GHG emissions by 2030 at the operational level and to certify LEED or WELL at least 40% of all offices and subsidiaries globally by 2025. Architecture and interior design firms AMA Design and Perkins&Will created the design for the Citi office space.
“In the project of our new Citi Romania headquarters we prioritized health, efficiency and sustainability, to enhance employee wellness and minimize the environmental impact of our facilities. Maintaining 100% renewable electricity is one of our 2025 operational footprint goals globally. Reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, energy use, water consumption and waste, coupled with sustainable building design are all key drivers on our pathway to meet the net zero commitment for our operations by 2030”, explains Samir Karia, General Manager of Citi Romania.
The new Citibank Romania headquarters in Bucharest combines the latest technologies for resource performance management with a focus on workplace comfort, being a multifunctional space for modern, flexible and hybrid ways of working, space for creativity, and collaboration, but also has spaces for individual work. At the same time, the Tiriac Towers building also provides tenants with charging stations for electric vehicles, plus parking space for bicycles.
“The LEED for Interior Design and Construction (LEED ID+C) certification was awarded to Citi’s new Bucharest headquarters for the implementation of practical strategies and solutions for energy efficiency and green energy supply, water efficiency and indoor air quality improvement strategies. Specifically, we are talking about a 45% reduction in annual energy and potable water consumption compared to a reference space and improved indoor air quality due to increased ventilation and the use of low VOC and low toxicity interior finishing materials”, says Tamara Dogariu, Senior Sustainability Consultant | ESG Strategic Advisory.
