Pepco has supported more than 2,200 children and young people in Romania through its internal social responsibility program, Pepcolandia. The program is developed to actively contribute to the educational training of children and young people in need. This year, the company supported 225 projects in Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and Italy and donated a total of more than 230,000 Euro to these initiatives.

Pepcolandia is an annual grant program that has been running since 2018, through which the company involves its employees in supporting local NGOs working with children and young people. Entities proposed by staff can receive grants of up to 2,000 Euro from Pepco to implement their own projects. The program gives children the chance to pursue their talents and passions by participating in educational trips, music workshops, summer camps, sports tournaments or other outdoor activities.

This year, the fourth edition of the program took place in Romania, where more than 2,200 children had the opportunity to take part in various educational activities, developed according to their needs and wishes. In total, over 455 workshops were organized.

Among the NGOs that have been part of this initiative are the Lumina Association, which organized 245 stimulation sessions for children with life-limiting conditions, the New Horizons Foundation, which set up a reading space for rural children, the Bright Future Association, which set up a sensory stimulation space for children with autism, Association for Consultancy, Integration and European Development (ACIDE), which set up and equipped a space for games/sports for rural children, Hangu Cultural Association, which set up and equipped a playground for children from Hangu commune, Centre for Education and Community Support, which organized a painting workshop, as part of the project “Give Colour to Your Emotions!”, the children’s works being exhibited in Veranda Mall, Bucharest and the Association Convention of Student Organizations of Craiova University, which created a space for therapeutic-educational workshops for children with disabilities. Also, in one village in the country, Pepco employees volunteered to transform an old warehouse into a creative and modern space for children. The children also benefited from material goods.

In this year’s edition, the employees proposed 225 projects in 4 countries: Poland (190 initiatives), Romania (31 initiatives), as well as Bulgaria and Italy, which joined the Pepcolandia program this year.
