“We enjoy great support from top management for our sustainability projects. Financial institutions and investors are paying attention to those ESG criteria. We are one of the companies that benefited from a sustainability linked loan of 800 million euros, and the conditions depend on our performance in this field,” Corina Dospinoiu, Head of CSR, Auchan Retail Romania said during Sustainability Forum 2022 organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.

“We have a strategy that we have been working on for over a year to determine our climate change goals.

By 2030 we want to reduce by 46% the carbon footprint on scope 1 and 2 (energy and refrigeration equipment). On Scope 3 we want to reduce emissions by 25% by 2030. By 2043 we want to become carbon-neutral on scope 1 and 2.

These elements are of great relevance for investors and for the possibility of accessing financing globally, but also locally.

The whole business strategy has changed and we have whole teams that focus on this topic of sustainability. We have the ambition to make this strategic shift towards sustainability.

We have a lot of sustainability projects, and their number will increase in the coming years. Last year we started implementing the project A new life through which we reuse the clothes we wear, knowing that the textile industry has an enormous impact on the environment.

We invest in circular economy projects, and our long-term strategy is to reuse the resources we already have at our disposal.”
