OMV Petrom, the largest integrated energy producer in Southeast Europe, has published its Sustainability Report for 2023. The report provides an overview of the company’s economic, environmental, and social achievements and projects, as well as commitments and progress towards sustainable development.

In 2023 we made significant progress with the implementation of the strategy, in the transition to a low-carbon business model, with important achievements in the field of renewable energy and electric mobility . We have also entered the development phase of the Neptun Deep project, which is essential to ensure a smooth transition to a low-carbon economy. We have continued to reduce our emissions and remain committed to achieving a 30% reduction in the carbon intensity of our operations by 2030 compared to 2019 levels.”
Key aspects of the OMV Petrom 2023 Sustainability Report:
- Portfolio of over 1 GW of renewable energy projects in Romania, including through partnerships and 270 charging stations installed in our regional network
- Carbon intensity of operations reduced by 11% compared to 2019
- Scope 1-3 emissions reduced by ~9% compared to 2019, with flaring and venting reduced by 61%
- The recovery rate of all waste increased to 82%
- More than 6,700 employees included in medical screening campaigns
- An average of 33 hours of professional training per employee
- 30% share of women in management positions
- Economic growth supported by encouraging local procurement: 90% spending with local suppliers
- Continuous efforts to positively impact local communities and support national projects: over 40 million euros spent on social projects, with ~850,000 beneficiaries
The company has been included in the FTSE4Good index series based on proven sound environmental, societal and governance practices. OMV Petrom was once again featured in Sustainalytics’ 2023 ESG Top Rated Companies list and received Silver Supplier status from EcoVadis.
