STRABAG SE, Europe’s listed technology group for construction services, launches communication campaign and “Work on Progress” sustainability platform in Romania, reflecting the company’s commitment to become climate neutral along the entire value chain by 2040. The campaign is already in place in the German speaking markets of STRABAG, including Austria, Germany, Switzerland, followed by the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and now Romania.
The construction sector is responsible for about 38 percent of total global CO2 emissions – 28 percent operational emissions attributed to the day-to-day operation of buildings and 10 percent embodied carbon emissions from the production of building materials in conjunction with the construction of buildings and other structures.
In this context, STRABAG has made it its mission to become climate neutral along the entire value chain by 2040 and – together with external partners –to make construction more sustainable and resource-efficient.
STRABAG’s strategy highlights the company’s economic, environmental and social footprint on three main pillars: people, planet and innovation. As such, the company has outlined a robust decarbonisation strategy that emphasises environment friendly materials, resource efficiency and recycling, as well as specific design elements to reduce waste and limit negative environmental impact.
“Unfortunately, in terms of sustainability, the construction sector is still one step behind. Unless we in the industry reinvent the way we work, the processes and the materials we use, achieving global climate goals becomes impossible. STRABAG takes on this responsibility and a clear pioneering role in the sustainability journey of its industry. We have developed a bold and highly ambitious plan to achieve climate neutrality as early as 2040 across the entire value chain. We plan to grow organically and deliver real added value for people and planet. We want to be a pioneer in green building, actively shape the energy transition and sustainably strengthen our technology leadership”, said Klemens Haselsteiner, CEO STRABAG SE.
“We leverage our advanced technological expertise to successfully bring innovative solutions to the Romanian market, a place where we are acting for 30 years now. Our steps ahead in digitalization are transforming the way we conduct our infrastructure and civil engineering projects in Romania, making the construction industry more technology-oriented. Together with our partners, we’re shaping a future where digitalisation drive sustainability and progress. We are moving forward in developing new sustainable construction materials and supporting the circular economy in the construction industry in Romania,” added Herbert Schuster, Commercial Managing Director STRABAG Romania.
