Viitor Plus, through the “12th hour” campaign, launches four manifesto videos, to raise awareness of the impact of waste on the environment and health.

The films were made together with the journalist Alex Dima and cover topics such as burning, illegal storage, separate collection and waste imports. The “12th hour” campaign, run by the Recycling Map program of the Viitor Plus association, starts from the alarming context of waste management in Romania and offers citizens ways to identify and report illegalities more easily. The information is summarized in four guides which aim to encourage citizens to get involved when they witness breaches of waste legislation.

“Many of us witness environmental crimes but prefer to remain passive. They believe that these problems do not affect them, but the lack of reaction will encourage those who commit such acts to repeat them. And others will follow their example. I joined the 12th Hour campaign to set an example of involvement, while there is still time for a change. Any citizen can use their rights to shed light and protect their health and that of their loved ones,” said Alex Dima.

The films are made in the form of a video diary and emphasize the power of the message and the speech-monologue that points to health issues, the rights of citizens and what they can do “in the 12th hour”.

These can be viewed on the 12th Hour campaign page.

Through the involvement of Alex Dima, known for his association in social and environmental causes, the project aims to raise public awareness and mobilize citizens to get involved against pollution and improper waste management. More information about the campaign and how citizens can get involved can be accessed on the 12th Hour campaign page.

The Recycling Map is a program of the Viitor Plus association, developed in partnership with the După Noi sustainability platform, whose purpose is to raise awareness of the importance of separate collection and promote reduction, reuse and recycling and circular economy principles. The online platform is educational, participatory and includes a map with 17,000 collection points across the country for waste that requires separate collection. Viitor Plus is a non-profit organization with over 18 years of experience in developing social entrepreneurship, environmental education, volunteering and environmental infrastructure programs. The main programs run are: Adopt a Tree, Cloth Workshop, Well Received, Recycle, Recycling Map, Eco Challenge, Eco Office, Regenesis and Roa din Vurpăr.
