“Our company was founded to respond to the need to reuse resources. We want to move the discussion from the area of sustainability to the area of regeneration, so that we pass the Net Zero moment and become positive. When we consume a resource, we have to somehow find solutions for that resource to be regenerated. For example, for every tree used in the production of pallets, we plant at least two trees. Every 25 pallets used in our circular system helps us save a mature tree.

Every company must analyse its activity in order to make the transition from a minimal impact on the environment to a positive impact. If we start from this idea, we have a very ambitious goal to achieve.

Pallets that can no longer be used will be repaired, and those pieces of wood that can no longer be used are ground and then reused as components for pallets,” Gabriel Ivan, Country General Manager, CHEP Romania & Bulgaria said during Sustainability in Business Forum organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest and Sustainability Today.

“I chose to join CHEP 6 years ago because it is a sustainable company, but also because it offers services that help other companies to be more sustainable.

A product can be described as innovative if it is developed and designed in such a way as to have as long a life as possible.

We have recently launched a series of digitization solutions to provide, on the supply chain, information to which we have access and based on which retailers and manufacturers can make educated decisions regarding the implementation of efficiency elements.

There are certain business components where you cannot do more than recycling, but there are many other business directions where reuse is the solution because it is much more valuable and brings a much more beneficial sustainability component for everyone.

We must understand that resources are limited and the way we use them will make the difference. We have to find ways to decouple the increase in well-being from the increase in consumption of raw materials or materials that can no longer be recovered.”
