Orange Romania is launching three new partnerships with civil society, allocating approximately 1 million euros for the next two years, through the fiscal facility for redirecting the profit tax, in projects dedicated to environmental protection and climate resilience.

Through initiatives such as supporting the Recicleta program, financing climate resilience projects through the Environment Platform for Bucharest and supporting Via Transilvanica, the company reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and the development of local communities.

“For 27 years we have been involved in actions aimed at bringing change in Romania. However, we know that this change involves efforts and teams that put soul and dedication #ForTomorrow. We have always listened to the voice of partners, customers and civil society in our community engagement, and the need for ideas that can create collective impact for natural heritage protection, climate risk reduction and environmental education were common themes in the discussions. The partnerships we are announcing today are complementary to Orange’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint, as well as those of involvement in the area of education.” says Veronica Dogaru, Corporate Communications & CSR Director

Orange Romania invests annually in actions related to the reduction of its own CO2 emissions, the circular economy and encouraging customers to adopt a responsible behavior regarding technology, as well as in education programs, development of digital skills and the environment. Community projects for a sustainable future

    1. Recycle, together with Viitor Plus Orange will support the Recicleta program, a social economy service with the status of a protected unit, which offers waste collection services for recycling. The program targets both schools in Bucharest and the surrounding areas, as well as small companies. Recycle promotes care for the environment and social equity, ensuring the transportation of waste with cargo tricycles and an electric car, without polluting the air of the capital. At the same time, it offers stable jobs to people with special needs and provides students with a valuable educational experience on sustainability.

    2. Funding round for climate resilience projects Together with the Bucharest Community Foundation, Orange will support the creation of a financing round dedicated to projects that address problems and opportunities related to climate resilience. Adapting to climate change is essential for our cities and for all of us. That is why, out of the desire to create the premises for collaborative action in civil society, Orange supports the Bucharest Community Foundation’s approach to create a funding round for projects or initiatives that address problems and opportunities related to climate resilience.

    3. Via Transilvanica maintenance partner Orange joins efforts to protect Romania’s natural and cultural heritage. Thus, it contributes to the constant maintenance actions of the entire 1400 km road that connects up to 12 sites included in the UNESCO World Heritage, supporting the efforts to transform the “road that unites” into an international tourist infrastructure. In addition to these partnerships, Orange reaffirms its commitment to education and digital inclusion programs, continuing its support for the Orange Foundation and the most important national cyber security competitions.
