ING Bank Romania supported environmental, education, financial health projects, as well as other community investment initiatives with 7.2 million euros in 2024.
“Sustainability remains a priority for ING Bank, but also for our clients and partners, who continued in 2024 to develop projects for the environment and society at an accelerated pace. ING Bank Romania has been supporting the business environment and the economy for 30 years, and the desire to contribute positively to the society and environment in which we live has always been on our list of priorities. We are pleased to announce remarkable progress in accelerating our clients’ transition to much more sustainable business models for companies or more energy-efficient homes for individuals”, says Marius Gavrea, Sustainability Manager at ING Bank Romania.
ING Bank Romania has committed to providing even more support to its customers in the transition to sustainable business models. In 2024, the bank held seminars for entrepreneurs and organized bilateral meetings with industry experts from very large companies regarding their transition plans.
In 2024, ING Bank recycled 420,000 cards in Romania, resulting in 2,500 kg of plastic that was subsequently used to produce pipes of various sizes. The project is part of a broader initiative launched in 2022, which began the transition to the use of cards made of recycled plastic. 2024 was the first year in which 100% of the newly issued cards by ING used rPVC, a fully recyclable material, which places them in the category of fully recyclable products with a low environmental impact throughout their entire life cycle, from production to destruction.
Last year’s edition of Home’Bank donations Hub supported 16 organizations to raise almost 1 million lei (977,013 lei / approx. 197,000 euros), money that supported health, education and environmental projects. In 2025, ING customers will have even more NGOs that they can support through donations. The 18 organizations present this year in ING Home’Bank propose several types of projects, including: school culture and non-formal education, sex education, food waste, wild animal rescue, reconstruction of houses destroyed in floods and earthquake preparedness.
