Carrefour Romania and the InspirAction Association announce the successful completion of the fourth edition of the “Small Gestures for Big Practices” project.
The fourth edition of the project took place between March 3 and April 13, 2025. During this edition, 10 schools and kindergartens in Romania benefited from interactive educational sessions on recycling and the responsible use of resources.
Among the results of this edition, 4,400 students learned to protect the planet, through sustainable education lessons and practical activities, 147,050 packages were recycled, and 8 schools and kindergartens were awarded with high-performance photovoltaic systems.
These sessions, coordinated by the InspirAction Association and supported by volunteer teachers, provided students with information on how they can take concrete action, through small gestures, to participate in reducing the negative impact on the environment.
The key element of the project was the recycling competition between schools and kindergartens, in which students and the local community were involved. Thus, 8 schools and kindergartens will benefit from high-performance photovoltaic systems.
Since its launch in December 2023, the project has involved 14,267 students in sustainable education activities, facilitated the recycling of over 535,670 DRS packaging at Carrefour vending machines and awarded 40 schools and kindergartens with high-performance photovoltaic systems.
“We are happy to see how, within this project, small gestures turn into big practices, and students learn responsible behaviors towards the environment through recycling. Education is one of the basic pillars that we support. Thus, we participate in the formation of a new generation of students more aware of the impact that each of our actions has on the environment”, declared Alina Gamauf, member of the Carrefour Romania Executive Committee.
“After four successful editions, the Small Gestures for Big Practices project is living proof that when we give children the right tools and knowledge, they can be among the strongest supporters of the well-being of the planet. This project is both about sustainability, by forming the habit of recycling, and about planting hope and responsibility in the hearts of the young generation and the community”, added Simona Paraschiv, president of the InspirAction Association.
