    RetuRO collected over 1 billion containers in the first three months of 2025

    RetuRO, the administrator of the Deposit Return System, announces the evolution and the latest results of the largest circular economy project in Romania.

    Since the beginning of the year, 1.06 billion containers have been returned by consumers, and RetuRO has handed over to recyclers a quantity of 83,000 tons of containers.

    In March alone, almost 384 million DRS containers were collected, representing 75 percent of the quantity placed on the market.

    RetuRO barometer for March 2025:

    – 384 million containers collected

    – 508 million containers placed on the market

    – 75 percent collection rate (78 percent plastic, 72 percent metal, 73 percent glass)

    DRS results – January-March 2025:

    – 1.1 billion containers collected

    – 83,000 tonnes of containers delivered by RetuRO to recyclers

    The recycling rate of packaging by type of material:

    – 79 percent plastic

    – 87 percent metal

    – 75 percent glass
